Move from theory to practice


1st Theory is fundamental

It may seem counterintuitive, but we must start from theory because:
  • having solid foundations gives us the necessary confidence
  • theory draws the rule from particular cases and guides us
  • knowing how to do is the basis of being motivated (Herzberg)
Especially for a professional, it is essential to proceed with a plan, rather than by trial and error.

2nd Define the goal

How many times have you told yourself "I can't" or "I won't make it"? And if we replaced "I can't" with "I don't want to": if it's really worth it, you'll find a way! And then, it's nice to allow yourself to choose whether to do something or not; it makes us protagonists and not victims.

Getting the wheel moving takes more effort than keeping it spinning; so:
  • develop new habits, perhaps linking them to existing ones
  • make sure you have everything ready and at hand
  • break down business development into meaningful sub-activities to do even in downtime
